🍬 Bring Back the Peppermint Tootsie Pop!

It’s funny how something so small can whisk you right back to childhood. For me, it’s a Peppermint Tootsie Pop. I can practically see that dapper little cartoon owl in his wintery tree, adjusting his tiny spectacles and asking the age-old question, “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?” And of course, he never waited long enough to find out—chomp! One lick, zero patience. This is exactly why no one trusts birds with research studies. Honestly, who among us ever waited long enough to find out anyway? Especially during the holidays, when peppermint is everywhere and self-control packs up and takes a vacation. (I actually ate 5 peppermint oreos in one sitting last night) With peppermint in the air and holiday magic everywhere, patience was never part of the Tootsie Pop experience.

I remember loving the holiday version when I was younger—the classic red-and-white peppermint swirl with a chewy Tootsie Roll center. I hadn’t bought them in years, but I spotted a bag on a recent shopping trip and couldn’t resist.

Sadly, the new green-and-red version just doesn’t hit the same. They taste more like generic hard candy with a hint of peppermint. Not terrible, but definitely not the nostalgic treat I remembered.

Sometimes, it’s best to leave a memory sweetly in the past—but if anyone finds the original red-and-white ones, let me know. I’ll buy a bag (or three).

Is there a favorite treat from your childhood you wish they’d bring back?

With love & glitter,
Valerie
