Day 2: Life as a “temporary retiree”

Let’s talk email – Remote workers don’t realize how tied they really are to their email. I found myself in a panic several times today. The panic was caused by the sense of urgency I had to to check my email. I just knew there was something I needed to address or resolve. A customer in crisis that I needed to swoop in like Super AM and take care of. I had to keep reminding myself I had no work obligations, no email to check, no schedule… I got to choose what I wanted to do and when. So what did I do –

  1. Step class in Garland – My favorite class of all! I have gone to this class for years. I love the instructor and I love the other people that attend – This is one of the top things I miss about living in Rowlett,
  2. City Clinic – I have seasonal allergies and they are acting up!
  3. Pick up Iyan’s cell phone – It fell out of his pocket last weekend and the screen cracked. Luckily, I was able to get if fixed. Bad news for Iyan he lost his Bud, Not Buddy packet and is failing Reading & Language Arts. No phone for him until he is passing!
  4. Met Neville for lunch and coffee!
  5. Headed to the barndo and then off to buy groceries and round out the day with a movie. (Thunderbolts)

My counselor and I agreed that until May 19th I am just going to see what each day brings. No rigid schedule, no major projects, just take some time to decompress and enjoy life! It won’t be as easy as it sounds for a crazy, Type A person like myself, but I am going to give it my best effort! Thus, the blog – I am going to track each day as a way to remind myself to just chill out!

Cheers to a successful refresh and recharge day!
